In 2024, MineFill completed the Telfer Rey Reclaimed Backfill System for Newmont Limited in Western Australia. The project involved integrating a reclaim tailings paste plant module into an existing hydraulic fill plant to achieve paste output of 80m³/h.
Project budget
The project required the integration of a reclaim tailings paste plant module into an existing hydraulic fill plant, creating a need for careful design, planning and system coordination. Paste also needed to be delivered via an overland pumping system, down the main ore shaft and through a challenging underground reticulation system.
MineFill delivered the engineering, procurement and construction of the paste backfill system, integrating the new reclaim tailings paste plant module into the existing operation. The project included underground reticulation design, a technical backfill operational system and an EPC contract supported by process performance guarantees.
The completed Telfer Rey Paste Backfill System demonstrates MineFill’s capability to deliver complex backfill upgrades and integrated paste plant solutions within existing mining infrastructure.
The system was designed to achieve 80m³/h paste output while supporting reliable paste delivery from the surface plant through to underground stopes.
