In 2021, MineFill Services was engaged as a subcontractor to AECOM to support the infrastructure component of the Havieron Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS). The scope focused on evaluating backfill options and developing the selected backfill system through the feasibility stage.
The project included a trade-off study comparing cemented rockfill and paste fill solutions, along with completion of the PFS design package for the preferred backfill system. Feasibility-level testing and design activities were undertaken using reclaimed tailings paste, supporting the development of a practical and efficient backfill strategy for the operation.

The Havieron project required the evaluation of multiple backfill options to determine the most suitable solution for future underground operations.
This included assessing technical performance, infrastructure requirements and material handling considerations while supporting the broader feasibility study objectives.
MineFill completed a detailed backfill trade-off study comparing cemented rockfill and paste fill alternatives before progressing the preferred solution through the pre-feasibility design stage.
The team also undertook feasibility-level testing and engineering analysis using reclaimed tailings paste, including exposure stability assessments, numerical modelling and bulkhead design considerations.
The Havieron Study provided the technical foundation for the project’s selected backfill approach and supported the ongoing development of the broader underground mining infrastructure.
Through feasibility investigations, testing and engineering input, MineFill helped establish a practical pathway toward future backfill system implementation.
