In 2021, MineFill completed a review of both current site data and previous strength testwork for the Wassa Project in Ghana. The assessment identified no conclusive reason for the significantly lower strengths being achieved onsite.
Following the initial review, MineFill undertook a detailed strength testing campaign to further investigate paste performance and support operational improvements. The results assisted site personnel in improving paste quality assurance and quality control processes.

The operation was experiencing significantly lower paste strengths than expected, despite existing site data and previous testwork being available. Understanding the cause of the performance discrepancy was critical to improving confidence in the backfill process.
MineFill conducted a comprehensive review of available operational data and historical strength testing results. Following this assessment, a more detailed strength testing campaign was undertaken to further investigate paste behaviour and identify opportunities for improvement.
The testing program provided valuable technical insights into paste performance and supported improvements to site QA/QC procedures. The project demonstrates MineFill’s ability to combine laboratory testing expertise with practical operational support to help mining operations optimise backfill performance.
